RPG Electronics was established as a sole proprietorship in 1975 by Richard Gavranich in San Jose, California to manufacture Liquid Crystal Testers. The first customers were those who manufactured LCD watches.

In 1977 RPG Electronics, Inc. was formed and shortly thereafter moved to Auburn, CA. Since that time the company has provided LCD test equipment to various LCD manufacturing companies in the United States as well as in China, Taiwan, Singapore and other foreign countries. The company continues to be family owned and managed.
